Samsung is taking a leading role in the development of the IEEE802.16e
standard. In fact, Samsung, in cooperation with ETRI, KT, SKT and KTF will
launch the WiBro (Wireless Broadband) service in

Dr. Cornelius van Rensburg
(SMIEEE 2004, M'96) received his B.Eng degree from
the University of Stellenbosch, South Africa, in
1988, his M.Sc(Eng), (in Image Processing) degree
from the University of Cape Town, South Africa, in 1991, and his Ph.D. degree
from the University of California, Davis, in 2001, all in Electrical
Engineering. From 1991 – 1997 he was with Telkom SA, in their VSAT business
development group, and from 2001 - 2003 he was with Metawave
Communications, where he developed signal processing algorithms for smart
antenna systems for CDMA2000. He is currently employed at Samsung
Telecommunications America where he is doing research on Smart Antennas for
CDMA2000 and IEEE 802.16 systems.
